10 restaurants to get your griddle on for Waffle Day

Tuesday , March 1st , 2016

March 25 marks Waffle Day, a Swedish holiday that traditionally calls for indulging in the crispy flat cake with jam and whipped cream. The celebration has religious roots, and stems from the Christian commemoration of Lady Day, or Vårfrudagen.

Over time, however, the holiday became secularized, and Våffeldagen, or Waffle Day, was born. Today, people enjoy their waffles in a wide variety of styles, including savoury with chicken and gravy, or sweet with fruit, ice cream and syrup.

Whatever your preference, on March 25, don’t waffle on deciding where to eat. Instead, stick with the following restaurant listing, and you’ll be well on your way to some of the city’s best griddles!
